About Us
Teal Lane Homeschooling is a homeschooling consulting and tutoring business located in Winchester, KY. We offer a wide range of services including consulting for homeschoolers, tutoring services, transcript consultations, and advice on curriculum choices. With a passion for helping homeschoolers thrive and succeed, we also have extensive experience in homeschooling since 2011, classroom experience, and expertise in working with neurodivergent children. We believe that a good education is one of the most important gifts we can give children.
Meet Joan
Joan is a dedicated homeschooling advocate, residing in Winchester, KY with her beloved sons and furry friends. She is passionate about education, determined to assist Kentucky families in their quest for academic success. She just started teaching part time at BCTC in Lexington helping adults achieve their educational goals. She has worked with children ages 4-18 in co-ops and classrooms, has published photography curriculum for grades three and up and sometimes publishes articles for homeschooling families in The Old Schoolhouse Magazine!

M.Ed. Neuroscience and Trauma
Tabor College
Joan's M.Ed. is helping her dive into the fascinating world of brain physiology, anatomy, and cognition. She is actively learning about the essential components of optimal brain function and health to help with learning and memory. From there, she will explore the effects of trauma on the whole person, leading to a comprehensive understanding of trauma-responsive practices and care.

This degree gives Joan the unique ability to help families heal and get their children's education back on track after the global pandemic.

Liberty Univeristy
This degree in psychology helped provide Joan with a deep understanding of human behavior and mental processes. She particularly appreciates the statistics classes she had to take because they helped her succeed in math like never before! This new area of expertise helped her successfully teach math in the classroom to grades 5-12 and now to adults at BCTC.
Joan
When Joan is not homeschooling her own kids or helping other families find educational freedom and success, you can find her in the woods or serving at church. She will probably have a coffee in her hand in any case!
